Your Class Plan
What You’ll Learn
A Construction Guys safety-awareness course with a school assessment. It is not advertised as OSHA 10/30 Outreach training and does not issue an OSHA/DOL card.
Before you start: No previous safety course required.
Planned teaching timetable: 8:30 AM–4:30 PM on Day 1 and Day 2, including breaks and lunch. This is the planned class schedule; actual class dates, daily times and venue will be confirmed before enrollment.
By the end, you should be able to
- Recognize common fall, struck-by, caught-in and electrical hazards.
- Choose higher-order controls before relying only on PPE.
- Prepare a simple job hazard analysis and communicate stop-work concerns.
- Inspect selected ladders/PPE and identify limits requiring a competent or qualified person.
- Plan heat, dust, emergency and incident-reporting responses for a mock job site.
Day 1 — Foundations and guided practice
8:30–9:00
Worker reporting rights, employer responsibilities, site orientation, and emergency contacts.
9:00–10:30
Hazard-recognition walk-through: falls, struck-by, caught-in/between, and electrical exposures.
10:30–10:45

Hierarchy of controls, PPE selection/limitations, tool condition and hazard communication.
12:00–12:45

12:45–2:15
Ground-level ladder/PPE inspection stations and a job hazard analysis exercise.
2:15–2:30
Break
2:30–3:45
Scaffold, excavation, energy isolation and confined-space recognition using models/case images.
3:45–4:30
Practice a toolbox talk and correct a weak hazard-control plan.
Day 2 — Application, assessment and next steps
8:30–9:00
Review missed hazards and distinguish awareness from task qualification.
9:00–10:30
Heat illness prevention, hydration/rest/shade planning, dust/silica controls, and respiratory-program awareness.
10:30–10:45
Break

4:00–4:30
Feedback, correction plan, certificate eligibility review, and recommended next steps.
Your hands-on project
Inspect a staged job-site scene, identify and prioritize hazards, complete a three-step job hazard analysis, inspect a ladder/PPE sample, and deliver a short toolbox talk. Demonstrate the response to one stop-work scenario.
Final knowledge test
Ten questions specific to OSHA & Safety, covering the skills, decisions, calculations and safety boundaries taught in this course. Each question is worth two points. Pass mark: 16 out of 20 (80%).
The instructor provides the test after training. Approved accessibility support may change how you respond while keeping the same learning standard.
Practical assessment
Complete the course project and demonstrate the skills individually. Five criteria are scored from 0–4. Pass mark: 16 out of 20 (80%), with no criterion below 2 and every critical safety check passed.
What your instructor will assess
- Recognize and stop/escalate immediate-danger conditions.
- Identify the major hazards and who may be exposed.
- Choose realistic controls with responsibilities and verification.
- Inspect the selected ladder/PPE and remove defective samples from use.
- Communicate a clear emergency/reporting plan and toolbox talk.
Training boundaries: Ground-level awareness exercises only. This course does not replace employer-required hazard-specific training, competent/qualified-person designation, equipment evaluation, or OSHA Outreach requirements.
Earn your certificate of completion
- Complete both days and all required learning activities; missed content must be made up.
- Pass the knowledge test and practical assessment separately; a strong score in one does not cancel a failed result in the other.
- Pass every critical safety check and receive the instructor’s sign-off.
If you need more practice, your instructor records the missing skills and assigns focused review and reassessment. Certificates are issued only after all requirements are met.
Your certificate records completion of this Construction Guys course. It is not a contractor license, trade license, or authorization to perform regulated work independently.
Credential scope: This is a Construction Guys safety-awareness certificate, not an OSHA 10/30 Outreach course or DOL card. See OSHA’s Outreach explanation.
Next learning step: Construction Equipment Training. Your instructor can help you choose based on demonstrated skills.
